Models are photographed or filmed for promotional purposes, to help promote a product, brand or service.There are many different types of modelling, ranging from promotional, corporate and commercial through to fashion modelling on catwalks and in catalogues. There’s even body part modelling, perfect for those with nice hands/hair/feet/all of the above.Although duties may vary, typical activities for a model will generally include:Arriving well in advance for shootsWorking with photographers, stylists and make-up artists to get the right lookPosing for photographsDisplaying clothing, accessories and productsAttending castings and checking in with their agencyMaintaining a portfolio of workIs it right for me?Don’t listen to Madonna. There’s a lot more to being a model than simply turning up and looking good.It takes an enormous amount of hard work and discipline to make it in the industry. If you can’t work for long hours and maintain a great attitude, this may not be for you.However, you should never lose site of the fact that your body is your most valuable asset. When you’re just starting out, being a model is all about casting calls, long days and rejection. You have to be incredibly think-skinned, and completely comfortable with yourself to keep your confidence up. However, all the hard work pays off when you finally see the finished product.
